Vintage Oval Lidded Basket with Handle / Unusual and Rare Basket with Handle
Measurements: 8″ tall, 11 with handle; the oval is 11.75″ x 8.5″

Reed appears to be natural arurog reeds
Difficult to see clearly in photos; however, the lid is both fitted outside as well as another rim to fit inside. Clever idea.
The condition is remarkably good for its age (it was referred to as antique). Please note photo 4 and the loss of reed. I have removed another that was barely on.
That is perhaps the only truly noticeable condition issue.
The basket was quite filthy. It was not washed, and the dust was blown out of it. What you see as gray is dried soil/dirt, intentionally left on.
This was presented to a research team and large group of basket weavers and collectors none of whom had ever seen such a basket. Yes, this is quite rare.
This was used as a sewing basket.
It will be LOADED with lots of vintage sewing threads and notions. Surprise!
This was purchased from the Virginia estate of the recently deceased owner. She was age 104.
